I recently had the honour of traveling to Rotterdam in the Netherlands to attend “Moving Beyond Competencies: The Future of Coach Development”, presented in partnership with Jeffrey Hull, Ph.D. BCC of the Institute of Coaching, McLean/Harvard Medical School and David Drake.
The event was attended by coaches from across the world and a particularly resonant moment came when the Dean of Executive Education at Erasmus University, Nicola Kleyn, posed a challenge: to define our collective noun as coaches. Together, we created the term “Cœuriosity” – a beautiful fusion of the French words “cœur” (heart) and “curiosity.” This embodiment of heart-centeredness and intellectual curiosity exemplifies the essence of coaching in its truest form, a Cœuriosity that unites us all.
